We are now able to directly receive investment donations in the form of publicly traded shares, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, etc. We will issue charitable tax receipts for these contributions.
Note: Due to processing timelines, transfers must be initiated before December 10th in order to complete the transfer before the end of the year.
What You Need to Know
Only publicly traded securities are accepted
We can only accept publicly traded shares, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, etc.
Contact us if you have any questions on your positions you’d like to donate.
Processing Time
Processing may take up to 10 business days. As a precaution, please do not initiate a transfer after December 10th, as we cannot guarantee the process would complete before December 31st if you require a tax receipt for the current calendar year.
Tax Receipt Date
The receipt will be issued based on the recorded date that we received the shares, after the process completes, not the date that you initiated the transfer.
Tax Receipt Amount
As per CRA guidelines, if the market value of the security fluctuates between the date the donor initiates the transfer and the date TSSF receives the security, the tax receipt will be issued based on the lower of the two values: either the price on the transfer initiation date, or the price on the date of deposit.
